The Crane Chandelier

We are always on the lookout for inspiration and innovative ideas to compliment our own creative process in making brides' dreams reality. To do this we scour websites, magazines, blogs, television...always trying to stay one step ahead of trends and wedding fashion. We come across some truly amazing material and don't see the fun in keeping it all to ourselves. Just recently we found The Wedding Co., a Toronto based company devoted to connecting brides and some of Canada's most talented wedding professionals.

Within about three minutes of entering the site we learned of The Wedding Co.'s Crane Chandelier Project. We were immediately intrigued and excited. This project seeks to construct a chandelier from thousands of origami cranes submitted by engaged couples worldwide. The exact number: 10,000.

With 10,000 of these peaceful tokens of love, the final creation will be a visual representation of a worldwide community of engaged and newly married couples. Each crane will represent a leap of love and the lifelong commitment. of two individuals. Additionally, each crane The Wedding Co. receives, a ¢50 donation will be made to The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation to fund cancer research.

You can get involved in this project by requesting a pre-made crane for yourself or an engaged friend or DIY ! Just don’t forget to write your names, your wedding date and your location somewhere on the crane. Cranes can be sent to:

Susanna and Josiah- January 23, 2010

Susanna and Josiah could not have asked for a more beautiful January day than that of their wedding day. It was one of the warmest days of the month with a perfect breeze.

While we have been involved in the weddings of literally hundreds of men and women making lifetime commitments to one another, we rarely have the opportunity to see the union and hear the words of love expressed during the ceremony. Baring witness to a couples nuptials allows you a glimpse at the love shared between the couple as you are able to hear and see the expressions of love. The thing is that we didn't need to sit in the pews at Scarritt-Bennett during the wedding ceremony of Susanna and Josiah...their love for one another exuded from them. Everything was beautifully captured by Derek Lee Photography.

The couple was surrounded by family and friends who actively took part in their special day. The bride had three bridesmaids stand with her as she married the love of her life. And, she looked stunning while she exchanged her vows. She carried a bouquet of ranunculus, anemones, waxflower, Peruvian lilies, plum carnations, fiji pom poms, and white hydrangeas.

Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated the union at a reception held at Houston Station. They enjoyed a heavenly cake created by Wedding Cake Designs and danced the night away.

It truly was our pleasure to be a part of Susanna and Josiah's special day. We wish them nothing but the best in their future together!

and we're back....

We didn't really go anywhere, but we've been so busy that we didn't spend much time in our corner of the internet. That is about to change....promise. Get ready because we have a lot to share!

(proof that we have been staying busy...and having fun while we do it)
